Robert Ades CFA CPA

History

Robert began his career in 1980 as a staff accountant at a local CPA firm in Beverly Hills. In 1982, he joined a Santa Monica-based accounting firm, where he rose to oversee the firm’s TV commercial production division.

Leveraging his entertainment industry experience, he founded Robert Ades Accountancy Corporation in 1988, a firm providing specialized tax services for behind-the-camera talent in film and television. 

In 2005, Robert formed Ades Investment Counsel, Inc. to add investment advisory and financial planning services to the firm’s practice. Today, the two companies operate in tandem to provide clients with a complete tax and wealth management solution.

Education, Credentials and Professional Memberships

Robert earned a B.A. in Management Studies from Sonoma State University and is licensed as a certified public accountant (CPA). He also holds the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA), which is considered one of the world’s most respected and recognized credentials in global finance.  

Robert is a member of CFA Institute, CFA Society of Los Angeles, and the California Society of CPAs (CalCPA).

Volunteer Activities

At CalCPA, Robert is a member of the State Committee for Personal Financial Planning, a California-wide committee promoting financial planning as a core service in the accounting profession.  He chairs the Practice Management Subcommittee, a group that researches cutting-edge practice management ideas for the profession.

Locally, Robert is the VP of Finance at Leo Baeck Temple. He chairs the Finance Committee and is a member of the temple’s Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee.

Robert also serves as treasurer and board member for the PRIDE Booster Club, Inc., the parent support and fundraising group for Paul Revere Charter Middle School in Los Angeles.

A native of Los Angeles, Robert is an avid road cyclist and photographer who loves to spend time with his wife, Naomi, and their daughter, Lauren.
